2. Classification by Entry Method

  • Single Entry Visa: Permits one-time entry and exit. Once you leave Vietnam, the visa expires immediately, regardless of the remaining validity period.
  • Multiple Entry Visa: Allows you to enter and exit Vietnam multiple times within the visa’s validity period without needing a new application.
  • E-visa (Electronic Visa): Since August 2023, Vietnam has expanded E-visa eligibility to citizens of all countries. It offers a validity of up to 90 days for either single or multiple entries.

Special Visa Exemption Cases

Phu Quoc Island Special Economic Zone

  • Eligibility: All foreign citizens.
  • Duration: Up to 30 days.
  • Condition: This exemption applies strictly to stay within Phu Quoc Island. Travelers moving to mainland Vietnam must obtain a standard visa as per regulations.

Overseas Vietnamese & Relatives

  • Eligibility: Overseas Vietnamese (Viet Kieu) and their spouses or children.
  • Validity: The 5-Year Visa Exemption Certificate is valid for 5 years.
  • Stay Duration: Each entry allows a stay of up to 6 months.

  • Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Vietnam.
  • The “30-Day Rule” Abolished: The previous requirement to wait 30 days between two unilateral visa-free entries has been removed. You may now re-enter Vietnam immediately after exiting.
  • E-visa for Other Nationalities: Citizens of countries not listed in the exemption group (such as the USA, Australia, India, etc.) can easily apply for a 90-day E-visa (Single or Multiple entry) via the official portal.

  1. Hold a valid passport (6-month validity, 2 blank pages).
