In light of the ongoing armed conflict in the Middle East, which has resulted in the closure of airspace in several countries within the region, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has decided to facilitate temporary stay extensions for foreign nationals who are unable to depart Vietnam due to the impact of the conflict.

Foreign nationals are requested to carry out the temporary stay extension procedures through the agency, organization, or individual in Vietnam that invited or sponsored them. In cases where foreign nationals entered Vietnam under visa exemption or using an electronic visa (e-visa), they may apply directly at the Immigration Department or the Immigration Division of the Provincial/Municipal Police.

Applicants are required to pay the prescribed fees in accordance with current regulations.

The application dossier must include a written request from the diplomatic mission or consular office of the country of which the foreign national holds citizenship.

• Citizens of countries located in the conflict-affected region may be granted a temporary stay extension of no more than 30 days per extension, which may be renewed until commercial flights to their home country become available.
• Citizens of countries not located in the conflict-affected region, but who are unable to return home because their travel route requires transit through Middle Eastern airports or airspace, may also be granted a 30-day extension. In such cases, the applicant must arrange an alternative flight route that does not pass through the affected airspace.

Foreign nationals who fail to complete the temporary stay extension procedures under this policy and consequently overstay their permitted duration of stay shall be subject to administrative penalties in accordance with the laws and regulations of Vietnam.
