Vietnam will extend visa exemptions for citizens of 12 countries from March 15, 2025, to March 14, 2028. The eligible countries are Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, Japan, South Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

According to a newly issued government resolution, travelers from these countries may enter Vietnam without a visa for stays of up to 45 days, regardless of passport type or travel purpose, provided they meet Vietnam’s entry requirements. The policy may be extended in accordance with Vietnamese law.

In addition, tourists from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland are exempt from visas for travel between March 1 and December 31, 2025.

Vietnam has also been offering e-visas to citizens from 80 countries since July 1, 2020. These countries include major tourism markets such as the United States, Canada, Australia, India, and most EU nations. Travelers with e-visas can enter Vietnam through eight international airports, 16 land border crossings, and 13 seaports.

In 2024, Vietnam earned top honors at the World Travel Awards, being named Asia’s Leading Destination, Leading Heritage Destination, and Leading Nature Destination. These accolades, combined with relaxed visa policies and enhanced tourism promotion efforts, have significantly boosted the country’s international tourism appeal.

Vietnam welcomed approximately 17.5 million foreign tourists in 2024. In the first two months of 2025 alone, nearly 4 million international visitors arrived—a 30.2% increase from the same period last year. China led with 956,000 visitors (27.7% of total arrivals), followed by South Korea (885,000), Taiwan, the U.S., Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, India, and Russia.

Vietnam aims to attract 22 to 23 million international tourists in 2025, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
