Vietnam saw over 7.67 million international tourist arrivals from January to April 2025, a 23.8% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.
China remained the largest source of visitors, contributing 1.95 million arrivals or 25.4% of the total. South Korea followed with 1.58 million (20.6%), while other major markets included Taiwan (China) with 440,000 visitors and the United States with 323,000. Japan, Cambodia, Australia, India, Malaysia, and Thailand also ranked among the top ten.

Chinese arrivals surged 56.7% year-on-year, while Japan recorded an 18.9% rise. Modest growth was noted from Taiwan (5.2%) and the US (7.2%). Several Southeast Asian countries posted impressive increases: the Philippines (98.3%), Cambodia (79.6%), and Laos (44.7%). Singapore was the exception, registering a slight drop of 0.9%.
European markets maintained steady growth, particularly those benefiting from Vietnam’s visa waiver program. The UK saw a 20.7% increase in arrivals, followed by France (24.7%), Germany (18.8%), Italy (32.6%), Spain (12.9%), Denmark (12.7%), Sweden (16.3%), and Norway (11.5%). Russia led the European segment with over 166,000 visitors—a 110.9% jump.
Additionally, Poland, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic—granted temporary visa exemptions from March 1 to December 31 under Vietnam’s tourism stimulus program—recorded notable gains of 48.8%, 16.6%, and 1.5%, respectively.
Looking ahead, the tourism authority plans to roll out seven major international promotional campaigns in 2025, targeting 22 to 23 million international arrivals by year’s end.
